HKEX posts record first-half revenue and profit as shares close up 2.37%

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing released its interim results on Aug. 19, reporting record figures for the first half of 2026. Revenue and other income reached HK$16.702 billion, up 19% from a year earlier, while profit attributable to shareholders rose 24% to HK$10.568 billion. The company’s shares closed at HK$414.6, gaining 2.37% after the results. The exchange tied the performance to strong corporate fundraising demand and higher trading activity across cash equities, derivatives, and Stock Connect. In the first six months, 87 companies listed in Hong Kong, raising HK$212.4 billion, up 94% year over year. Average daily turnover in the cash market rose 18% to HK$283 billion, a first-half record. Average daily derivatives volume increased 6% to 1.8 million contracts, while average daily turnover through Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Connect reached RMB 345.3 billion, more than double the level a year earlier. Before the earnings release, HKEX also said Chief Executive Bonnie Y Chan had been reappointed for another three years, with the new term running from March 1, 2027 to Feb. 28, 2030, subject to approval from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, which has been obtained.
